![]() If you go into a movie with as ridiculous an amount of hype as this one has, then there's a greater chance that the disappointment will be just as ridiculous. As a fan of the original trilogy and a person who tries to act like the prequels never happened, I walked into The Force Awakens with an open, yet cautious, mind. Darth was not known to be a Sith title but Vaders personal first name.I have seen The Force Awakens, and the force in me has indeed been awakened - as has my nostalgia. That Darth does not die, he is restored to his former self, Anakin Skywalker (not an insufferable git version) who dies. A badass who is a threat to the protagonists through three movies. In the original trilogy (from the perspective of someone who grew up with them before the rest of it) there is one Darth, THE Darth. The prequel trilogy had four Darths, one of which died in the fist movie (upon watching it for the first time, Clone Wars didn't exist yet), another died after seeing out one movie and 1/7th of a second, another had his death retroactively inserted into RotJ and another is the pussyfication of everybodies former favourite badass. All pre TPM EU material went along with this interpretation of the movies, and why would they assume any different? The Empire had nothing to do with the Sith. Vader referred to him as his master but it came across as if he meant like a dog has a master rather than a master and apprentice relationship. He was a Dark Side practitioner, not a Sith. Darth was not known to be a Sith title but Vaders personal first name.Įmperor Palpatine (known as just the Emperor in the movie) was the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. ![]() Movie Palps had more incommon with someone like Kato Yasunori than Exar Kun or Nada SadowĬlick to shrink. In the original trilogy (from the perspective of someone who grew up with them before the rest of it) there is one Darth, THE Darth. No there was an evil wizard or to go with Lucas's love for Japanese period pieces a fallen Onmyioji than he did a Sith lord. So you know, these guys being rogue Jedi looking to cement themselves as Sith lords or hold outs from Palpy's darksider cult is fine.As long as we get imperial remnant forces and the occasional badass bounty hunter taking the lead Lightsabers battles don't have to happen every five minutes.because it was never about that.hence Yoda's scorn for 'em and violence in the OT vs "mmmmm fuck the senate! Right Windu is.Democracy replaced by lightsaber in face to all who appear heretic force users lap dogs yeesss.hmmmm!! See absolutely nothing wrong with taking over the republic i do.fucking hypocrite I am!! mmmm!!" The Sith don't have to exist for there to be a story.because they literally didn't for the only three good movies of the series. You're not understanding. The Sith didn't exist until the early nineties more or less.beyond IIRC in some early scripts them essentially being Ronin who were exiled from the Jedi order a century or so before the story and were essentially assholes who were all about vigilantism and proactive violence what got themselves into power because they through in with the empire who basically used them to off the Jedi. The Sith didn't exist.that story was irrelevant.their entire existence in the prequels lifted from comic books that were head over heels superior to the films that ripped off the ideas(With Exar Kun and co being way, waayyy better villains than the cackling retard we got in the prequels.what an epic take down of the mysterious evil wizard we got in the original movies.to where its almost a different character).
